2009-2010 Performance Measures

Obtaining and Maintaining Housing

Activity: The 24 AmeriCorps members will assist clients in obtaining and/or maintaining suitable housing. Clients will be case managed and mentored through one-on-one goal development to attain and maintain stable housing. Guidance and support will be offered to access resources (e.g. housing opportunities, financial assistance, etc) and develop skills (e.g. household management, following housing rules and lease agreements) in achieving housing goals.

Performance Measure:

Part I: The 24 AmeriCorps members will case manage 200 homeless individuals who will each set a housing goal. 

Part II: 120 of the 200 homeless individuals (60%) who set a housing goal will transition into affordable housing.

Part III: 72 of the 120 homeless individuals (60%) will maintain their affordable housing for at least 3 months.

Final Outcomes:

To be reported on July 31, 2010.

HealthCare Access

Activity: The 24 AmeriCorps members will provide information to clients about health insurance, healthcare access and health benefits programs during one-on-one case management meetings and during group presentations.

Performance Measure: The 24 AmeriCorps members will engage 236 homeless and formerly homeless clients in the mentoring program to access health care within an 11 month period.

Final Outcomes:

To be reported on July 31, 2010.

Employment Skills and Training

Activity: The 24 AmeriCorps members will assist clients in attaining employment skills and training. Clients will be case managed through one-on-one goals development and life skills classes to attain employment skills and training.

Performance Measure: The 24 AmeriCorps members will spend 5100 hours total to provide services related to employment, skills training, or education-related services within an 11 month period.

Volunteer Recruitment and Management

Activity: The 24 AmeriCorps members will outreach (through volunteer fairs, community education presentations, media advertisements and other publicity media) to diverse community groups (faith community, businesses, civic groups, universities and colleges, housing program residents) to recruit, train, and manage community volunteers that will assist in mentoring clients and carrying out service projects related to client, host agency, and AmeriCorps project needs.

Performance Measure: 214 community volunteers will be recruited, trained, and managed, and they will volunteer a total of 1280 hours of service addressing client, host agency, and AmeriCorps project needs.

During the 2007-2008 (September-August), AmeriCorps members of the Keep Austin Housed project had the following impact on the Austin community.

Obtaining and Maintaining Housing
Activity:
The 25 AmeriCorps members will engage 170 (145 homeless and 25 newly housed) clients to assist in obtaining and/or maintaining safe and secure housing. Clients will be case managed and mentored through one-on-one goal development to obtain and maintain stable housing. Guidance and support will be offered to access resources (e.g. housing opportunities, financial assistance, etc.) and develop skills (e.g. household management, following housing rules and lease agreements) in achieving housing goals.

Performance Measure:

Part I: 145 clients will establish goals to obtain safe and secure housing. Of the 145, 87 (60%) will obtain housing.

Part II: 112 clients (the 87 clients who obtained housing plus an additional 25 newly housed clients) will establish goals to maintain housing for at least three months. 67 (60%) of the 112 clients will maintain their housing for at least three consecutive months.

Final Outcomes:

Improving Personal Stability 

Activity: The 25 AmeriCorps members will engage 205 homeless, formerly homeless and at-risk clients to assist in achieving greater stability in their lives. Clients will be case managed and mentored through one-on-one goal development to improve their personal stability, as defined by one's ability to establish and achieve goals in the areas of Income and Self-Care (e.g. employment, application and receipt of financial benefits, mental health care, social activities, budgeting, etc.).

Performance Measure: 205 clients will establish at least 2 personal stability goals and of the 205, 123 (60%) will achieve at least two client-determined personal stability.

Final Outcomes:

# of total clients establishing at least 2 personal stability goals (205): 341

# of total clients attaining at least 2 personal stability goals (123) (60%): 226 (66%) 

Volunteer Recruitment and Management

Activity: 25 AmeriCorps members will outreach (through volunteer fairs, community education presentations, media advertisements and other publicity media) to diverse community groups (faith community, businesses, civic groups, universities and colleges, housing program residents) to recruit, train, and manage community volunteers that will assist in mentoring clients and carrying out service projects related to client, host agency, and AmeriCorps project needs.

Performance Measure: 190 community volunteers will be recruited, trained, and managed, and they will volunteer a total of 1125 hours of service addressing client, host agency, and AmeriCorps project needs.

Final Outcomes:

# of total hours volunteers were engaged (1125): 2535

During the 2006-2007 (September-August), AmeriCorps members of the Keep Austin Housed project had the following impact on the Austin community.

Of these 90 households tracked for housing maintenance, 54 (60%) of these clients will maintain that housing for at least three consecutive months.

Performance Measure: 250 clients will establish at least two personal stability goals. 150 (60%) of the 250 clients will attain at least two client-determined personal stability goals.
